In order to experience something new, we need to become familiar with the thoughts and feelings in our minds and guide them to be consistent with the life we want to live. When we shift our thoughts and self-talk, our approach to life changes. Everything and everyone around us will be touched by that shift, and we will have the opportunity for a new experience as a result.

I purposefully create the life and relationships I want.

Moment by moment, I stay aware of the power of my words and actions. My choice may convey appreciation, uplift, or support. It may impart guidance, express understanding, or give reassurance. The decision I make may lead to a sense of connection or a sense of separation.

I set the intention to be a source of love and happiness to others, and as a result, I experience happiness and love within myself.



Tip: Consider starting a mindfulness practice as one of your New Year's resolutions.

Too often, we run on autopilot. We may even find ourselves saying, “I wasn’t thinking.” To be purposeful, we must create a pause in our mind giving us the space for our right and perfect action to reveal itself. A mindfulness or meditation practice helps us in creating this pause and space within our minds so that we act and interact from our most evolved selves.

An abundance of wonderful resources exists to help you begin a mindfulness practice. In mindfulness, you learn to stay grounded in your body and present in the moment. The practice includes awareness of the sensations of breathing and utilizing deep breaths to relax and clear the mind.

In mindfulness practice, you learn to accept and acknowledge uncomfortable sensations associated with anxiety or frustration without feeling the need to react out of those sensations and emotions. The natural outcome of mindfulness practice is clarity of purposeful options at any given moment.
