When we make a shift in our views and our approaches, everything and everyone around us will be touched by that shift and have a new experience or opportunity as a result. These weekly affirmations and tips provide you with a chance to try on a new idea or approach. They are invitations for you and those in your life to experience more profound respect and caring in your relationships. Enjoy!
You Matter. I Matter. We Matter.
You matter, I matter, and our relationship matters.
I listen in order to understand your thoughts, feelings, and hopes because you are important and I want you to feel seen and heard by me. I seek to express my own thoughts, feelings and hopes because I want to be authentic and honest with you. I take the time to make sure our communication honors us both and allows for each of us to fully express our truth, because that is what facilitates depth in our relationship and allows us to create only what the two of us can uniquely form together.
Tip: Make sure you are not engaging in monologues when you communicate in your relationships or conversely disappearing into head nodding. A relationship is a unique expression of two people coming together to create something better than either of them can create alone. For this to happen, there needs to be a mutual exchange from which new inspiration and insight will result.
Seek to be open and interested in the other person. Seek also to open your mind to your own deeper truths. If you are in relationship with someone who tends to lecture or dominate conversations, honor yourself through journaling and giving yourself time to reflect. When you are clear on your inner truth, go back to the other person and ask them if they would be willing to hear your thoughts. Respecting the relationship includes making sure both you and the other person are accessing and contributing your inner truth.
