Your thoughts are the guiding force of your behaviors. An affirmation is a thought intended to replace another thought—namely, a habitual thought which has caused us to repeat unhappy patterns.

We are drawn to the familiar. To experience something new, we need to become familiar with the thoughts and feelings in our minds and guide them to be consistent with the life of our dreams.

Use these weekly Affirmations and Tips to enhance your relationships in 2019.

I bring clarity to my relationships through my own transparency.

I am open and honest about my intentions, plans, and hopes. I do not worry about the other person’s reactions, but rather I prioritize an experience of authenticity and clarity. I realize that reaching agreements requires exploration and discussion, and I seek to gain clarity on the wants of the other person, and also my desires. From an informed place, we are able to find win/win solutions that move our relationship forward in productive ways.

I am willing to put in the time to talk and schedule follow up conversations until clarity and accord has been reached in my relationship. I realize this will require willingness to speak my own needs and hear the needs of the other person.

Tip:  Avoid the belief that you have to sacrifice your own needs in order to come to an agreement. Make it okay not to reach agreement or resolve decisions in one conversation. Give yourself and others time to digest what has been communicated. Gently agree to revisit topics later and continue to explore each person’s hopes, trusting that you each can integrate what the other has shared.

Difficult conversations around subjects like parenting, intimacy, and finances require an ongoing comparison of experience and a willingness to adjust to create satisfaction for both people.
