Through the month of December, I am offering Affirmations and Tips in preparation for the New Year. Rather than making a New Year’s Resolution on New Year’s Day that quickly falls by the wayside, consider a different approach this year.

December’s Affirmations and Tips provide an opportunity for you to reflect on the shifts and changes you’d like to make which will lead you to the experiences you would like to have in 2019, the way you would like to be in 2019, and the way you would like to feel in 2019.

Time

The way I spend my time reflects my values.

Time is my resource to use intentionally. If I am not experiencing what I want or being who I want to be, I consider how I can shift my schedule or routine to create a different experience. I realize that my health, my spirituality and my relationships, as well as my home, work, finances, and abilities, all reflect an investment, or lack of investment, of my time.

If I want to make a change in any area of my life, my utilization of time holds the key to transformation. A regular concerted investment of time enables me to alter any aspect of my experience. Therefore, I schedule my time in accordance with my values and desires.

Tip:  Over the course of the past two weeks, you have reflected on your values and your desired direction. Let’s plan a potential week that both meets your obligations and also supports your values and desires.

Based on your previous reflections, make a new list of the activities you would like to experience in 2019. Next to each item, write the number of hours you are required (in the case of work or school) to dedicate or want to dedicate to the activity. Minus time for sleep, hygiene, and eating, we have approximately 100 hours available to us each week. Adjust the anticipated hours as needed to ensure you don’t exceed 100 hours. You might even want to record this potential schedule on a week-at-a-glance calendar. This calendar will provide a potential roadmap for transformation in 2019.
