Begin to make the shifts that lead to the close, connected relationships you long to experience. Work with the theme and affirmation below. Take time to experience the word and take in the affirmation. Living from these concepts is not always easy. The words and affirmations are designed to help you become more aware and intentional in your relationships.
I reflect on my own intention and am curious about the intention of others.
I reflect on my own intention or what I want to experience. I am also curious about the intention or hopes of others. I recognize that often times I misinterpret others and even take things personally which only serves to create misunderstandings. Only through asking them can I know the intentions, needs and hopes behind the behavior and words of others. I want to know the heart of those I love and avoid judging them through the filter of my own ideas. My automatic interpretations come from a place of past experiences and often are not accurate for my closest relationships now.
In the same way that I seek to understand the intention of my loved ones, I reflect on my own intentions before I act and when possible communicate my intentions first in order to make sure that my actions are in harmony with the needs of those I love. This requires me to slow down and be thoughtful before I act or speak. I consider what I want the outcome to be and state my hopes. By aligning my intentions with the intentions of the ones I love team work and cooperation is achieved.
Tip: Try starting the conversations with your intention. For example make statements like, “I want to feel close to you.” “I want to understand how you feel.” “I want us to be a team.” Try asking questions about the other persons intentions or hopes. You might ask, "what do you want be the outcome of our conversations?" or "what do you really need me to understand about what you want?"
