Enjoy the weekly affirmations and tips. They are an opportunity to try on a new idea or approach. Repeatedly doing the same thing gets us the same results. When we make a shift in our views and our approaches, everything and everyone around us will be touched by that shift and have a new experience or opportunity as a result. These affirmations and tips are invitations for you and those in your life to experience more profound respect and caring in your relationships. 

 

 

Acknowledge 

I acknowledge there is more than my perception.


There are many points of view other than my own. Others may consider the same situation or experience from a completely different perspective. Acknowledging how others see things allows me to stay open, to integrate new ideas, and to have an ever-expanding understanding. I am able to experience flexibility and growth.

I seek to fully understand the perspectives of others by asking them to tell me more. I then acknowledge their point of view as valid.

  

Tip:  My colleague has a picture of an elephant in his office to represent the “elephant in the room” — those subjects no one is mentioning. In addition to talking about the "elephant," remember that your partner may be tuned in to a completely different aspect of the elephant — problem or issue — than you are. They may describe the long thick trunk that is digging in the dusty dirt searching for peanuts, while you are focused on the thin tail swatting away flies. When you talk about significant topics with your partner, remember they are tuning into an aspect which is meaningful to them, and their concerns, observations, needs, and wants contribute valuable insight into the best course of action.
